World Meditation Day
Meditation does not need to be complicated or formal. It often begins in very simple moments of awareness.
Sometimes it is just noticing your breath for a moment without trying to change anything. Sometimes it is sitting down and realising you do not need to fill every second. And sometimes it is simply pausing long enough to notice how you actually feel.
At Freo Wellbeing, we offer different ways to support this kind of calm and connection, including breathing exercises, yoga, and pilates. If you would like to explore this, check out our website. You can see what we offer and choose something that feels right for you.
Mental Health Awareness Week [13 to 19 May]
At Freo Wellbeing, we are here for you. If you need support, space to talk, or simply someone to reach out to, you can contact us at any time.
Mental health is not only about difficulties. It is also about capacity. Capacity to feel, to rest, to connect, and to express what might otherwise stay unspoken. Sometimes that expression is through words, sometimes through art, movement, or simply how we move through a day.
It is no coincidence that Mental Health Awareness Week often sits alongside Creative Wellbeing Week. Creativity and mental health are closely connected, because both speak to how we process, express, and make sense of what we feel.
This week is an invitation to notice your own relationship with wellbeing without pressure to define it or fix it. You might realise that support does not always look like big change. Sometimes it is found in small moments of honesty, rest, or connection with others.
If you choose to engage with this week, you might also find that creativity offers a gentle way to understand yourself a little better, without needing to explain everything in words.
International Day of Families
The idea of family can mean many different things to different people. For some, it is a source of comfort and connection. For others, it may feel complicated, distant, or even painful. And for many, family is something that has been redefined into friendships, chosen relationships, or supportive communities.
This day is not about a single definition, but about recognising the importance of feeling connected in whatever way feels real and safe for you.
You might notice how wellbeing is often shaped by the people we feel able to be ourselves with. Sometimes that is family, sometimes it is not, and both experiences are valid.
If today feels right for you, it might be a moment to appreciate the people who support you in your life, or to gently reach out to someone who feels like a safe presence.
Creative Wellbeing Week [13 to 19 May]
Creativity is not only about making something finished or beautiful. It can also be about giving shape to what is inside you, even if it is unclear or unfinished.
During this week, you might notice how different forms of expression affect your inner state. Writing a few words, moving your body in a way that feels natural, or simply playing with colour or sound can sometimes shift how you feel without needing explanation.
There is also something powerful in creating alongside others. Being in a shared space where no one is trying to get it right can feel surprisingly grounding. It is less about the outcome and more about the experience of being present with what you are doing.
If it feels right, try something small today that has no purpose other than expression. Not to improve anything, just to let something move through you in a different way.
World Laughter Day
Laughter can arrive in the most unexpected ways, can't it? You might find yourself chatting away happily, or you might see something funny on the street that makes you laugh. Or you might remember something that used to feel heavy but now feels much lighter.
If you feel like it, why not think about someone nearby who might need a little lightness today? It could be a neighbour you pass often, or someone you haven't had much chance to catch up with recently. It doesn't have to be a huge gesture, just something small that shows you care. Even something small, like a funny thought, a drawing, or a kind word, can make someone's day.
You know how the atmosphere in your body can change in an instant when something makes you laugh or smile?
1. May Day
May Day is often seen as a marker of spring arriving properly, but it can also be a gentle reminder that change does not always need to be big or dramatic. Sometimes it is enough to notice that something in you feels slightly different than it did a few weeks ago.
If you step outside today and notice a colour or a sound, you might also notice what it brings up in you. A bit of ease, a bit of memory, or maybe just a small sense of being present.
If it feels right, take someone with you. A short walk or even a shared moment outdoors can shift how the day feels for both of you.
International Dance Day
International Dance Day is here to celebrate movement, music, and pure joy. Dance is a way to wake up your body, release tension, and let your mind feel lighter. Even a few minutes of moving to a song you love can lift your mood and spark creativity.
Turn today into a little adventure. Play your favourite track at home and move however feels good, or pop by a local dance studio and try a class you have never done before. Invite a friend and share the fun together. Dancing connects us to ourselves, to others, and to the simple pleasure of being alive.
We at Freo Wellbeing see dance as a celebration of life. There are no rules, no perfect steps, and no audience required. Today, feel the music, let your energy flow, and notice how your body and mind celebrate along with you.
Consciousness Day
Consciousness Day is an invitation to pause, to notice the world inside and around you. It is a gentle reminder that awareness is the gateway to connection with ourselves, with others, and with the world.
Today, try simply observing: the rise and fall of your thoughts, the rhythm of your breath, the colors and sounds around you. Ask yourself:
What do I notice when I slow down?
What patterns am I carrying?
What sparks curiosity?
Awareness is not about judgment or perfection. It is about showing up fully, even to the quiet corners of your mind. Through conscious living, we nurture mental clarity, emotional balance, and a deeper sense of presence in every moment.
Consciousness is a practice. It is a dance between the inner and outer worlds. Today, take one small action to live more consciously, whether through mindful breathing, a walk, journaling, or simply noticing the sensations of the present.
World Art Day
World Art Day is a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the many ways art touches our lives. Art is not just something to look at. It is something to feel, to play with, and to let inspire us.
We at Freo Wellbeing know that engaging with art, whether creating or observing, is a powerful tool for mental health and emotional wellbeing. Painting a canvas, scribbling in a notebook, dancing to a song, or simply noticing beauty around you can help release tension, spark joy, and connect you to your inner self.
Today, embrace your creativity. Share your art with others, explore a new medium, or just spend a few moments noticing the colors, shapes, and rhythms in the world around you. There is no right or wrong. Art is about expression, connection, and the simple joy of making and experiencing something new.
Celebrate today by letting your imagination lead the way and honoring the artist within you.
World Health Day
World Health Day 2026 shines a light on Global Action for Universal Health Coverage. This is a day to reflect on the right of every person, everywhere, to access essential health services without facing financial hardship. Health is a shared responsibility and a fundamental human right.
We at Freo Wellbeing believe that wellbeing extends beyond the individual. It is about communities, systems, and societies that support everyone to thrive. onsider how your choices, actions, or advocacy can contribute to a fairer, healthier world. Whether it is learning about global health initiatives, supporting local wellbeing projects, or simply raising awareness, every action matters.
Health is not only about treating illness. It is about creating environments where people can flourish physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Today, honor your own health while also thinking about the bigger picture: a world where access to care, support, and wellbeing is truly for all.
World Party Day
What if celebration was not about noise, but about connection?
World Party Day is a reminder that joy is not frivolous. It is medicine. In a world that moves fast and often feels heavy, choosing to celebrate can be an act of resistance, resilience and community care.
A party does not have to mean glitter cannons and crowded rooms. It can be a shared meal. A dance in your kitchen. A poetry night. A circle of friends speaking honestly. Music that moves you. Art that opens something in your chest.
At its heart, a party is collective energy. It is belonging. It is nervous systems softening together.
Today, ask yourself:
What would feel genuinely joyful?
Who would I like to share that with?
How can celebration support my wellbeing?
Joy is not a distraction from mental health. It is part of it.
World Theatre Day:
At Freo Wellbeing, we believe theatre and performance can inspire more than just applause. They invite us to discover our own creativity, explore new perspectives, and connect with our emotions.
Why not take this opportunity to try something you’ve never experienced before? Look for a variety show, circus performance, or local theatre production in your area and let yourself be inspired.
Even small moments of playful creativity count. Try acting out a scene with friends, improvising a story, or simply noticing the stories unfolding around you.
Engaging with the arts can help you feel present, spark joy, and open new ways of seeing the world.
International Happiness Day
Today is International Day of Happiness, a gentle reminder to notice what brings light into your life and the lives of those around you.
At Freo Wellbeing, we see happiness as more than a fleeting feeling. It grows through mindful presence, connection, and small acts of care. Can you bring happiness to someone close to you today? A kind word, a note, or a small gesture can brighten a day and ripple through your community.
You can also take a moment to reflect on what makes you happy. Writing it down every day can help you feel present, grounded, and grateful for the simple joys in life.
Happiness is a practice as much as it is a feeling, and even small mindful moments can create lasting wellbeing.

International Day of Education
Education is more than learning facts or passing exams; it is a foundation for opportunity, equality, and a brighter future for everyone. Today is a reminder that access to education is not the same for all, and that knowledge has the power to transform lives and communities. Every classroom, every teacher, and every learner contributes to a world where curiosity, understanding, and growth are possible.
If you want to make a difference, look for opportunities close to home. Volunteer at local tutoring programs, support community libraries, donate books or supplies, or get involved in initiatives that help children and adults access learning in your area.
Even small actions can help ensure more people have the chance to experience the joy of learning and make education truly accessible to all.

Popcorn comes in all sorts of flavors, just like the ways we enjoy art, movies, and time with others. Today is about trying something different, noticing the small pleasures, and celebrating moments of curiosity and connection. Sometimes the simplest things, like a warm snack and a good story, can remind us how sweet everyday life can be.
